It's not that confusing. Though we do have a couple of novel-writers in the mix now. (Heh...)
Yeah, the whole communist-takeover-attempt story arc was... interesting. Alas, Haraldur has disappeared several months ago, so more recent story arcs have been a tad more, how should I say, in-theme. (Heh...)
