I remember they did a sort of tech demo on the N64 with Final Fantasy 3/6 characters, but then turned around and released FF7 for the Playstation.
Normally I wouldn't care about a remake. But after seeing the craziness that is Advent Children, I'll admit I have my curiosity whetted. (Heh...)
