I'd actually rather you not, though. But I can answer two of your questions:
I use a program called "MovieSnapshot" (freeware) and "Bulent's screen recorder" (also freeware) to turn frames into bitmaps. MovieSnapshot is just a program that allows you to take screenshots of movies without messing with some settings in the control panel, and the second one is just screen capture program that can take snapshots. (It's not the best method, basically multiple print screens in a window, but it works. It seems everything that turns movie files into images in bulk is shareware and has a trial limit.)
Don't know of any free video studio programs, since I paid for mine. (Heh...)
