Did you try the autosave file too?
Also, are you the guy who sent in his save file to be fixed? I still have it and can resend if you want it. That's about the best I can do, though. I do have some tester saves scattered throughout the game, but those have debug items and weird variable settings, which would probably screw things up in a standard game.
