"True" sequels are difficult for RPGs. You have to deal with what happens to the entire party of highly leveled-up characters. (Heh...) Did they all get killed? Do they just pick up where they left off? Do they join up really late in the game? Do they not feel like fighting anymore? Of course you can always do a decent passage of time. Lufia 1 and 2 did this nicely, I think (in the opposite direction). And then you're limited to already established land masses, etc. and if you expand on that, the player wonders where this stuff was in the first game. (Heh...)
