The relationship between DA/X and DA2 is made clear when you beat DA2 on hard mode. To activate it, you need to seek out and beat a hidden boss in the world right before fighting the final boss. (This will also make the final boss harder, but I think it's more fun. Heh...)

I know there's a couple of people on the board who've seen this, but don't spoil it for them. It's just a little scene, but it's much more entertaining if you see it there for the first time. (Heh...)
