My biggest problem with both the Dark Age games (more so with DAI) was the saving system. In DAII if you use a save point in the middle of the level if could be tricky to get out if you are too weak. But then all you have to do if die and load the autosave. So it's easy to get anywhere no matter how weak you are. This gives some players the illusion they're stronger than they really are. Eventually they will no longer be able to defeat the bosses and give up.
