I suppose, if you really wanted to, you could try it out. Your board position and place in the story should load. That is, of course, if you don't mind all your stats being 0 and having no items/spells (heh...). That's because I use my own variables in the menu and battle system. In addition, there's stats like Magic and Speed that didn't even exist in the first version.
