Ragnaros can be pretty tough if you're low leveled. You probably shouldn't attempt him until you're comfortable fighting the enemies in the dark palace. Also, there's some rare items in the random dungeon that can help the battle greatly. There aren't any "cheats" per se, but make sure you do all the extra quests like getting Posidon and Red Dragon and going through Celena Castle.
