KSNiloc: Please don't provoke my site visitors.  You know branches can be useful when used appropriately.

William: KSNiloc is correct in noting how you use branches in your battle system, however.  Normally, when a method is called, the translator "remembers" where to return to when that method is finished.  But if in that method you branch to a point outside of that method, that method hasn't actually "finished" yet, so that spot to return to stays in memory.  Now if you hit the method again and branch out, you'll get a second spot recorded in memory.  If you do this enough times, you'll get a stack overflow.  Basically, your game crashes.

Now, if all your battles are short, you probably won't see this at all.  It'll be that one long major boss battle that this'll creep up on you.

KSNiloc: Now, to expect a kid who's just learning a simple scripting language with no formal education in computer science to figure this out on his own is a bit harsh, wouldn't you agree?
