The music in Dark Age is all MIDI, which can't be "ripped" by recording the music directly from the game.  I got most of it from http://vgmusic.com which specializes in video game MIDIs.

I did do a few sound effects the way you mention, though.  What you need to do is go to your 'Master Volume' control by double clicking the microphone/speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen (or you can get to it via the control panel).  Select 'options' in the upper left hand corner, then 'properties'.  Click on the 'recording' bullet and check all the items that appear in the 'show the following volume controls' window.  Clicking OK will take you to the 'Recording Control' panel.  Now check 'Stereo Mix' and adjust the volume to pretty low (if it's too high, your recordings might get static).  After that, you should be able to record any sound your computer makes with the Sound Recorder accessory.
