Mystic Sword

Mystic Sword was a clay animation project I worked on back in 2000 - 2001. The story follows Arthur, a generic knight, who receives a generic magical sword, and must undertake a generic quest to save the land (heh...), picking up allies along the way in an RPG-ish fashion. The animation is a bit primitive at a mere four frames per second, and the entire series was done without the aid of computer video editing software (didn't have a capable computer at that time!).

Unfortunately, I never got around to finishing the series, having moved on to game design as my primary hobby in 2001 with Dark Age, and there are a total of four episodes (I imagined it would take 10-12 to complete the story). A couple of ideas I had for the series did make it in into Dark Age and DA2, though.

Oh, and you get to see Xorlak blow stuff up. (Heh...)

Arthur and Ivan travel to Gainsmire Castle, where they must battle a snake-like sea creature and help fend off a full scale seige. The dramatic entrance of You-Know-Who at the end never fails to crack me up. (Heh...)

From giant flying dragons to the unstoppable Titan, this episode has it all! The Dark Dragon enemy that appears near the end of Dark Age is based off of the clay dragons featured in this episode.

Is the mysterious new warior a friend or foe? It's battle after battle in this action packed episode. Check out the orginal Necrodragon (yes, that giant skeleton dragon that appears near the end of DA2!) Note that certain references are made to certain characters that happen to have the same names as certain characters in DA2, but aren't the same people. (Heh...)
